Vacation Slides & VAX Days

As a reminder, before bidding closes at noon on the 14th, be sure to utilize the opportunity to slide your vacation or add VAX days to your vacation.

CBA 14.D.2

 

“A Flight Attendant may "slide" their vacation period up to four (4) days either way prior to the monthly bid award but cannot slide any days into a previously awarded month.

Requests must be submitted by 1200 CT on the 14th of the month prior to the month in which the vacation occurs.”

A Flight Attendant may elect to have up to two off days (VAX days) pre-assigned to his/her vacation; however, a Flight Attendant may not elect to have more than one (1) VAX day be applied to the same side of the vacation period. Such days will be counted toward the Flight Attendant's monthly minimum day off requirements.

What does this mean and why would you want to utilize these options?

 

If you have Dec 15-21st off and you really want Christmas off, you can slide your vacation to get the 25th off. In order to do so, you just need to slide your vacation forward 4 days. This means your vacation will be the 19th-25th.

 

You can also utilize VAX days on each end which would give you the 18th and 26th off. Remember though VAX days are not extra vacation days, they counted towards your minimum days off.

 

The same can be done if you have Vacation Dec 29th-Jan 4th. You can slide your vacation back 4 days. Your vacation will then be 25th-31st. Then, if you choose, you can add VAX days to each end so you will be off Christmas Eve through New Year's day.
